I offer a free no obligation consultation to find out more about your presenting problems and goals for therapy. Click on my contact page to take the first step in getting started and have a chat about whether therapy with me is right for you.
This varies from person to person, and will depend on the issue you are looking at addressing in therapy, and your goals. I will be able to give you a better idea after your initial assessment. Most clients have on average between 6-12 sessions. However, due to the inherently flexible nature of private therapy, I am able to offer more sessions if needed. We will review your therapy and progress regularly and check you are finding them helpful and productive.
I would recommend having weekly sessions at the start of treatment as evidence suggests that this is more beneficial in the early stages of therapy. This keeps the momentum going, and helps get you feeling better, sooner! Once you start to feel an improvement, sessions can be spaced out to fortnightly appointments if you prefer. When you are considering completing your treatment, some people prefer to plan larger gaps in between sessions, and have a follow up appointments to check they've stayed on track and maintained progress, or to discuss any bumps in the road that they've experienced.
Most people tend to have the same appointment day/time, weekly. However, I can also offer some flexibility if you work shifts, or if your diary is not the same week to week.
I also appreciate that some people might not be able to commit to weekly sessions, due to finances, or work/life commitments, and so I am happy to discuss if fortnightly appointments work better for you.
Right away if you wish. I work Tuesday- Friday and I have therapy appointments coming up in the near future, and can offer you an appointment within 2-3 weeks. Please contact me to discuss your preferences and availability.
Yes - I take your privacy seriously. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office for UK GDPR. All information shared in therapy sessions is confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your explicit consent.
The only exception to this would be in the following circumstances 1) if I were to be concerned that you were at immediate risk of hurting yourself, or 2) if I were to be concerned that you were a risk to others. In these cases I may need to contact other external organisations, normally your GP (in scenario 1) or the police (in scenario 2). If I am considering breaking your confidence for the reasons outlined, I will normally attempt to discuss this with you first.
CBT, or indeed, embarking on any type of psychological treatment, isn't a quick fix. Most people start to notice a improvement in their symptoms (and a greater understanding of themselves) by session 4-6.
We will book in regular therapy reviews to make sure that you are finding the sessions helpful and working towards your goals. However, there is no obligation to have a set number of sessions. You are free to stop sessions at any time. Any sessions you have in credit will be refunded.
You do not need a GP referral to access private CBT with me.
No. You can tell me whether you would prefer to keep your GP updated with your progress, or not.

Yes - in order to protect both myself and my clients, I have professional indemnity insurance via Balens Specialist Insurance Brokers.

No - in today’s digital world, accessing therapy has never been easier. I offer online therapy services that allow you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home. This flexible option is ideal for those with busy schedules or who prefer a virtual setting for their sessions.
Yes! A lot of studies, as well as clinical experience, have found remote sessions to be as effective as face to face treatment. In fact, most of our clients find remote sessions to be more convenient as they fit around busy lives, childcare, and eliminate travel costs.
That’s ok. If you have any questions or queries, please just let me know. I will be happy to talk you through how to use Microsoft Teams, or even have a trial run with you, so you feel comfortable. Alternatively, you can have your sessions via telephone if this feels easier for you.
