I have been working in mental health for 15 years, and working using cognitive behavioural principles for the last 13 years.
I qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in 2018, and I am Fully Accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP, https://babcp.com/)
During my career, I have helped hundreds of people just like you to overcome their anxiety/depression, and work towards their goals.
In my previous NHS career I have held a Senior Psychological Practitioner role, and have been a Clinical Lead for a team of Psychological Well-being Practitioners within an NHS Talking Therapies Service. I have also been involved in the teaching team for the Postgraduate Diploma in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Intervention course, as an Honorary Clinical Teacher and Seminar Tutor.
I have completed additional top up training to deliver Evidence-based CBT for Long Term Health Conditions (LTC's). I have also undergone Autism Training, adapting CBT to work with people with Autism. I have an interest in British Sign Language, and have completed BSL Level 1, and have worked with people who are deaf in therapy.
I am an encouraging therapist who believes that change is possible. Sometimes, we might need to break it down into lots of little steps, but each step forward is a step towards a happier and healthier you.
I believe that everyone has the potential to transform their life and reach their full potential. I love helping clients to better understand themselves, to learn practical skills and to reclaim their lives.
Everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and we work together to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.
As soon as I discovered Psychology, it fascinated me. It helped me to make sense of the world around me, and, I found, I was actually quite good at it!
During my CBT career in the NHS, I loved helping people make sense of their difficulties and their own world, and helping them to make meaningful changes to their lives to reach their goals.
When I became a mum, my world changed. I had a single birth, followed by twins, with only 20 months between them meaning I was now raising three children under the age of 2.
Whilst my heart was full, I felt exhausted by the demands of caring for little ones, and caring for my clients, within a system that felt restrictive. I felt frustrated by limited session numbers, long waiting lists, and a job role that no longer offered the flexibility for me to be at my best for my clients.
Whilst grateful for the experiences I've had in the NHS, I knew I was ready to focus on working with clients who were ready to engage, and where I could tailor my therapy to each individual. Working at the pace of my clients, rather than the pace that the service demands.
Building my private practice has been a dream come true. I've created a haven where my clients can feel safe, understood, and supported. It's a place where we can work together to create meaningful change. I've also been able to create a work-life balance that I couldn't find anywhere else. This, combined with the rewarding work I do with my clients, is what keeps me committed to this path.
